- Huge earthquake rattles Tibet
- An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale rattled through Tibet today, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage, Chinese media reported. The quake hit at 7.08 AM (0908 AEST) in a mountainous region of Zhongbar county about 100km from Tibet's border with Nepal, the Xinhua news agency said. Seismological officials had been sent to the site, said to be sparsely populated, to determine whether there had been any damage or casualties, Xinhua reported.
- Relatively powerful earthquake jolts Mazandaran province in Iran
- A relatively strong earthquake jolted 'Kelardasht' region in the western part of the northern province of Mazandaran at 18:10 hours local time (13:40 GMT) Sunday afternoon. The magnitude of the quake and possible injuries or damages have not been reported. The tremors were felt in almost half of the country, including the capital Tehran. At least 30 people were killed and 250 others injured. The quake also severely damaged 27 villages in Mazandaran. Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence.
Check out the 6.1 in Afghanistan. I wonder if the USGS will have this? Oh yea and the 5.7 in the Caspian sea. Wonder why IRIS only has two large quakes listed for 7/11 and one is in the ocean. Does this mean these reports that were found are false, or are they not being reported by IRIS for some other reason? They aren't listed on Full Disklosure's raw date info either? Nor are they reported on the USGS worldwide reports: Very strange, indeed.
